The two new Grasshopper3 USB 3.0 models featuring new Sony global shutter CMOS sensors will be available by the end of September. Both models are based on Sony’s 2nd generation Pregius global shutter CMOS sensors, offering CCD-like imaging with low read noise and high dynamic range.
The Pregius technology uses an innovative analogue memory pixel design that enables global shutter and low read noise. The pixel technology has been further enhanced with the 2nd generation sensor with a reduction in pixel size, enabling a smaller sensor. In addition, the read noise has been lowered to compensate for the reduced pixel size, and maintains the same dynamic range as the 1st generation Pregius sensors.
The GS3-U3-32S4 will feature the IMX252, a 3.2MP sensor with 1/1.8” optical format capable of imaging at 123 fps. GS3-U3-51S5 will feature the IMX250, a 5MP, 2/3” sensor imaging at 77 fps.
