Sony Semiconductor Group announced earlier this month they would be discontinuing production of all Sony CCD image sensors by the end of March 2017, which are used in a large percentage of Point Grey CCD cameras.
We respect the investment our customers have made in this technology. Therefore, we would like to assure them of our continuing commitment to support their CCD based projects, and we will continue to supply Sony CCD sensor cameras until at least 2026.
This news will only affect customers using Sony CCD sensor based cameras and will not affect customers currently using Point Grey cameras featuring Sharp and Kodak CCD sensors.
If any customers would like to look into moving to CMOS technology, we will of course be there to support them with the transistion. For more infomation, please CONTACT US.
